An email list is simply a list of emails that businesses have gathered from customers through running an Email compaign or people that visits their website or blog and would like to receive information, updates, discounts, and other details about their business to be sent to their email inbox.
With the recent inventions of chatbots and other giant social media companies like Instagram , Facebook , Twitter ,pinterest and a handful of other's.

Is sending an Email or building an Email list really worth it now ?
A big yes !!!
Email marketing is still the oldest and yet most -effective messaging channel , and according to Neil Patel.

I'm not saying you should stop using social media It's even very good to create more following and build trusting relationship.
Although social medias are not as importance as when you have an Email List , it's still imperative to know that social media will help cover-up the loose ends that email can't reach or will not be able to make , I am talking about running various social media campaigns to people you don't even have in your email list and eventually converting them to potential customers.
The power of an Email list should never be underestimated it's really a great place to generate more traffic , sales and engagement.

But with all the noise out there is it possible?

alongside Active email accounts are expected to hit 5.6 billion by 2019 , according to Hubspot
You might be great at in-person sales. Those skills just doesn't seem to turned out to be translating as well in emails.

So to better use and leverage the oppotunity an Email list has to offer you need way to get your audience hooked up and anticipating every newsletter with your brand name written in it and a clear concise subject line ,
You will have to answer this 3 questions first
you will need to know what type of Email to send? who to send to ? when ?and at what time ? so you would get nearly the desired outcome you hoped for,

Note: These people should be genuinely interested in your brand and industry.
(Buying an Email list is very impractical and you never get back half the money spent)
1. Newsletter :
Emails sent on a consistent schedule usually weekday morning it usually consist of news updates about the brands website or blog , upcoming webinars and events.
(webinars are really great !!!)
2. Standalone emails :
These particular type of emails are send for mostly just one topic with a clearly call-to-action , if you curated your Email with multiple links it is very likely for the subscriber to click on the first link and believe me there is a 90% chance they wouldn't come back for the rest and they would loose that particular information you are trying to send them to , so it's very practical to choose one topic .
3. Transactional :
These are emails that are usually run or sent by an E-commerce website with details of various transactional processes , proof of payments (reciepts) and you can further personalize this email with various recommendations based on the users prior purchasing habits , as they have 8x the opens and clicks than any other type of email.
4. milestone Emails :
celebrating your company's anniversary or your subscribers sign-up anniversary alonside sending Emails to help your subscribers celebrate their birthdays with a special promotion or offer can greatly inccrease sales and conversions.
With all the huge impact that all of this strategies named above will make , there is still half of the traffic equation which is mobile-optimized Emails .

mobile devices has become a major tool that people use frequently and with ease as they can carry anywhere with them , that what makes Email marketing to succeed more through mobile phones.

They were able to undergo the process of signing up for your newsletter , checking their inbox to confirm their Email subscription all because they wanted to hear from you ,
No matter what type of Email you are sending the bottom line for every type is value , it should provide valuable content to your audience whether it's a free E-books that you have compiled from the most meaningful blog post you've made or a perfectly timed offer.
